Our Story: Since 1947

SafetyDecals retro script logo

Since 1947. Still Signs.

Our new retro logo is a tip of the hat to my grandpa, Marion "Tye" Tykoski, and the neon sign shop he opened in Manistee, Michigan. Three generations later, we're still a family business, and we're still making signs.

A Tye's Incorporated Company Since 1947

Where it all started

My grandpa, Marion "Tye" Tykoski, served in the U.S. Army in World War II from 1943 to 1946. When he got home, he went to Neon Sign College in Chicago, then came back to Manistee and opened Tye's Neon Signs in 1947. His truck said it plain: neon signs built and repaired. He loved the work and kept at it right up until the end.

In 1982 my dad, Dave Tykoski, took over and it became Tye's Signs. Dad's work ethic and commitment were unbelievable, and I'm grateful for every bit of it. In 2009 I took over, we became Tye's Incorporated, and I bought SafetyDecals.com. The name changed a couple of times. The way we work didn't. Grandpa's hard work and the way he took care of every customer are what this whole company is built on, and I don't take that for granted. Nick Tykoski

The new logo

Look close and you'll see Grandpa's sign in it. We borrowed the thin, looping letters from his original neon "Signs" sign, used them to spell out Safety Decals, and kept the circle around it.

It's not replacing our main logo. It's an alternate, a little reminder of where we come from every time it shows up on a box, a truck or a decal.
